84 COCKTAILS ISLAND STYLE ANNE LEE PHILLIPS SIPS A RUM DUM. PHOTOGRAPHY LIZETTE SOTO. I f we didn't already believe it's better in the Bahamas, shooting the breeze with interior designer Amanda Lindroth at Mecox had us ready to charter a plane to Lyford Cay. She came to Houston, charming husband Orjan in tow, to toast the release of her first book, Island Hopping: Amanda Lindroth Design (Vendome Press, 2018), which chronicles 25 of her luscious tropical interiors. Helping her celebrate were friends Lindsay and Rand Holstead, Lisa and Will Mathis, and Courtney and Christopher Sarofim, who all have homes in Lyford, and charming Mecox owner Mac Hoak. Lindroth was as gracious and witty as ever. One fan requested a book be signed for her mother-in-law; Lindroth, debating how to inscribe the volume, leaned in and asked, "Now, is she a 'Dear…'?" When another guest shared that she was heading to a friend's home in the Bahamas soon, Lindroth invited her over for a drink. Guests scooped up multiple copies of her book and procured cute items from her collection of wicker and rattan home accessories, carried by Mecox.
