Looking Out for Number One A cool store plus a hot scene equals a very warm welcome. F Brian Bolke Amy Adams Dana Card Tina Craig Nicole Stewart BY LACY BALL. PHOTOGRAPHY MARK ANTHONY NELSON. ashion plates, social swells and creative types recently had two reasons to hit Highland Park Village: the highly anticipated opening of Brian Bolke's Number One/Le Jus, which doubled as a "welcome to PaperCity" celebration for our own executive editor, Amy Adams, who recently returned from a two-year sojourn in Mozambique to join PC. Party-goers spilled onto the sidewalks with Le Jus owner Dana Card's cold-pressed juices laced with Dulce Vida Organic Tequila in hand — perfect for washing down salmon tartare, guacamole on marinated apples and truffles served by waiters sporting Play Comme des Garçons striped shirts with J Brand dark denim. Bolke, who also owns Forty Five Ten and Five and Ten, explained the organic-point-of-view fashion offerings, home items and gifts combined with Le Jus pressed juices and artisanally crafted foods and teas: "This is simply a spot to meet and feel good. It's really my goal to create places where people are transported, like a mini vacation from the everyday." Situated on the original Highland Park Village soda-fountain site (and more recently Centennial Liquor), Droese Raney Architecture exposed the original brick and soaring ceilings. The glow emanating from the assemblage proved Bolke's minivacay point beautifully. Hot numbers: Ann Richardson, Jim Atkinson, Kelly Rigas, Jenny Kirtland, Hillary Higgins, John and Christine Drossos, Sherry Levin, Meredith Musselman, Beth Shapiro, Suzanne Droese, Sam Saladino, Meaders Ozarow, Claire Emanuelson, Matthew Simon, Rachel Michell, Faisal Halum with pup Sophie, Jim Williamson, Connie Siegel, Piper Wyatt, Julie Hogg, Paige Flink, and Sabrina Dee. We overheard many a nutritionally balanced mom whispering, "And you know they open at 7:30 in the morning so you can shop before other stores open!"
