This isn't the world of hard facts and harsh realities; it is that hazy place between asleep and awake. A beautiful dream. A soft abstraction. When you close your eyes and enter this mystical mindset, you might find yourself wan- dering through Houston artist Nestor Topchy's Crescent Compound — a village of sorts that is all at once a res- idence and a living, breathing work of art. Call it a sur- realist Neverland, where a chapel made of tin and a con- servatory made of salvaged glass looks out onto a mossy pond. In our deepest meditations, this gentle, thoughtful place is what we seek.
