29 E arlier this year, dur- ing a deep dive into the PaperCity archives, we came across coverage of a Christmas party the maga- zine co-hosted with Stanley Korshak nearly a decade ago. Jan Strimple was dressed as a fash- ionable Mrs. Claus, and the store's glorious halls were decked with holiday. The stylish set was all there — and we're certain a boat- load of champagne was consumed. So, we had the idea: Let's bring back the PaperCity Stanley Korshak Holiday Party. We dialed Korshak owner Crawford Brock and his talented team of execs — Martha Leonard, KJ Murphy, and Bret McKinney — to brainstorm. A theme took shape ("Making Merry"), a beneficiary was chosen (a toy drive to benefit Dallas Children's Advocacy Center), and several months later, we found ourselves at Stanley Korshak on the first Tuesday of December. Ours was the first holiday bash of the season. Translation: Festive attire was at an all-time high — fur, sequins, velvet, lots of sultry red — and guests were ready to kick off the holidays and pour back the cocktail. Greeting us at the door was a Bentley from Park Place Dealerships, flanked by two strap- ping gents in fashionable elf attire. By the end of the night, the car was packed with new toys to be donated to the children served by DCAC. A DJ held court in the center of the cosmetics salon, while pine boughs were studded with PaperCity covers turned Christmas tree or- naments. For dessert, Truman Wilson (the darling son of Christen and Derek Wilson) was posted near the men's salon, selling his namesake chocolate bars. And there was, of course, plenty of shopping. You know, just in case Santa forgot something.
