Lee Majors, chair Beth McGarry C owboys and gals stampeded to the George Ranch Historical Park for a hoedown of epic proportions: the annual Cattle Barons Ball. Festivities began with savory fajitas, crab cakes and the always entertaining pig races, segued to the Vegas-style casino tables and ended with country singer and Houston native Lyle Lovett serenading the blue-jean-clad guests, while 70s icon Lee Majors made a PA. The chairmen, Victory members Beth McGarry and Carole McGarry, kick-started the lively bidding for The Texas Traditions Quilt decorated by a cancer patients artwork, which was actually sold twice: The first winner put it back into the auction, where it raised an astonishing $101,000. In all, the evening secured a recordbreaking $3.1 million for The American Cancer Society. Erin Oppenheim Advertising copyright 2010 ALOR International LTD.
