CRAVINGS Pazda: Dirty vodka martinis (lthy), Austrian Grner Veltliner, Micheladas, Goins: Id like to think that I have an adventurous palate but, my absolute favorites are Joshs platanos and homemade guacamole. It is to die for! [Also] English mufns with lingonberry jam and, really, anything savory and sweet. Pazda: Mexican and Vietnamese.I love spicy foods. Tacos al pastor. Cantaloupe juice. Pho or chargrilled pork and a fried egg over rice ... OMG. STOCKING THE DRINKS CART Pazda: Jeffersons Bourbon, Rmy Martin Cognac, Hendricks Gin, Titos Vodka, Pimms plus the standard xins: olives, onions, limes, club soda. A PERFECT GRAPEFRUIT MARGARITA Pazda: Habanero Grapefruit Margaritas: Habanero peppers Fresh grapefruit, orange and lime juices Steep 2 habanero chiles in a jar of tequila overnight Fill a mason jar with ice A jigger of tequila Two jiggers of grapefruit juice One jigger of orange juice Squeeze 1/2 fresh lime Good to go. These babies are hot. WHO MANS THE RANGE Pazda: We both cook together, probably four or ve nights a week. Its our favorite way to connect and spend time with one another. COCKTAIL-PARTY FOOD Ritas in the making as habanero peppers bask in a bath of tequila. Goins, in Lanvin blouse and skirt from Tootsies, admires Mark Foxs If That, Then This, 2010, from Universal Limited Art Editions (ULAE). Goins: [For the summer], sandwiches that are a pured concoction of arugula, cream cheese, lemon, garlic sprinkled with sunower seeds served on whole grain bread. ON SIGNATURE HAIR Goins: My bob erupted from a much-needed makeover. I was ready for a change and went from long platinum blonde hair to a short golden bob. Casey Clay, owner of Shyn Salon in Montrose, gave me my bob in February 2011. Pazda: Since my head is shaved, hats are the only way to switch up my haircut. Always looking for a new hat newsboy, fedora, porkpie ... anything goes. In the sunroom, Warrenton discoveries reign. The antique rug was a housewarming gift from discerning collector and dear friend Bill Lassiter. A FASCINATION WITH KIKI Pazda: Kiki Smith is one of very few contemporary artists to whom medieval iconography is applicable. Her Untitled (Bird and Buttery), 1998, juxtaposes life and death. The bird is the soul leaving the body in death, and the buttery is symbolic of new life (in the transformation from caterpillar to buttery). So, here you have life and death, oating together in a gray atmospheric haze, perhaps unaware of each others presence. I think it is beautifully poetic. Pazda ambles past a James Turrell, one of the master talents showcased in a burgeoning and signicant collection of works on paper. Turrell is represented by Hiram Butler Gallery. ADVICE FROM ARTIST/PORTRAIT MASTER TIMOTHY GREENFIELD-SANDERS ON THE PERFECT PORTRAIT PAZDA: CHIN DOWN, NECK OUT. WORKS EVERY TIME. ON FASHION THAT NEVER GETS OLD Goins: Anything that has a romantic quality such as powder pink, aka poudre, lace, Peter Pan collars and always bold prints. TRAVEL WISH LIST Pazda: Barcelona. I want to go to my favorite city and relax. So Barcelona for me has always been about slowing down ... taking it easy. Sneak away to Balearic Islands Im leaning toward Menorca. Its quieter, less developed than Ibiza and Mallorca. Midnight dancing. Just get lost. No plan is the best plan. Beach, eat, drink, sleep, live music, repeat. Of course, cruise by Gaud and Mies van der Rohes German Pavilion in Barcelona. Josh Pazdas fedoras rest on a chaise longue from IKEA. The well-stocked drinks cart stands beneath a pair of paintings by New York artist Matt Magee: Pink Eff, 2008, and Coral Oracle, 2008. Cart and decanters were scored at Warrenton. ON NEXT ART ACQUISITION Goins: My latest obsession is a watercolor by Hana Hillerova. Pazda: Would love to have a work by Tony Feher. Perhaps a drawing. Since having made hundreds of boxes as an MFAH preparator, I have a fetish for the shape of unfolded cardboard boxes. I have to imagine Tony shares the same fetish. ON DECORATING HAUNTS Above, from top: Pazdas ongoing collage series. Goins collection of spherical objects, all Warrenton treasures. Pazda: Warrenton, Warrenton, Warrenton and Kuhl-Linscomb for a blend of contemporary and vintage nds. Favorite stations are Four Tet, Here We Go Magic, The Whitest Boy Alive, Hot Chip All-time favorite dinner record is Getz/Gilberto by Stan Getz, Joo Gilberto and Antonio Carlos Jobim. Bossa nova from 1964 ultra chill. Goins: Serge Lutens Chergui (above). Pazda: None for me. Plain Jane. A pair of 1992 Jennifer Bartletts from the series The Elements, represented by Hiram Butler Gallery. Earth (left) and Fire (right) hover over a bookcase bursting with the couples collection of art and fashion volumes. IT WAS THE FIRST AND ONLY PLACE WE LOOKED AT.
