18 letter editor Hunt Slonem T he aftermath of Texas Design Week Dallas and the PaperCity Design Awards brings epic exhaustion, but also a satisfying realization … We knew we could do this, and we did. Five days, 20 designers, 14 salon talks, book signings, exhibitions and dinners, with cocktails every step of the way. Martyn Lawrence Bullard ran the show at the PaperCity Design Awards, held court at a cocktail reception at The Rug Company showcasing his new rug collection, had a sell-out book signing and talk, and still made it to dinner two nights in a row. Architectural Digest editor in chief Amy Astley talked and joked to a sell-out crowd of designers and sold out of books at Jan Showers Showroom. Amy divulged AD's subversive shorthand to describe a house: Deep dish — wallpaper, fabric, fringe, molding and pilasters, all in one room. Shiny — new! Jeffrey Bilhuber kept the crowd in stitches at his cocktail party and talk at Wells Abbott showroom: On the subject of bar carts: "I don't want my bar on wheels, rolling around looking for me. It needs to stay where it is and I'll find it." David Kleinberg, Tom Scheerer, Timothy Corrigan, Lisa Fine, Pieter Estersohn, Jay Jeffers, Cathy Kincaid, Lee Ledbetter, Chesie Breen, Lance Scott, Oliver Furth, Penny Morrison, Caleb Anderson, Carl Dellatore, Alex Hitz, Sandy Gilbert, Lee Ledbetter, and Dean Rhys Morgan (with a Jeremiah Goodman exhibition) all put on excellent shows. The next Texas Design Week Dallas is September 27 through October 2, 2020. Jump in your car and road-trip to Texas Design Week Houston March 23 through 27, 2020. We do want to thank our lovely, lovely sponsors. See page 37 for our salute! And a huge thank you to the team: Farrell Lawo, Meghan West, Hannah Swiggard, Maggie Wilson, and Alex Tomic, who spent countless hours booking flights and hotels, designing invitations and Instagram stories, wrangling mailing lists, and triple-checking RSVPs and reserved seating for six months leading up to TXDW — which is when the real teamwork began. And then it starts over. Holly Moore Editor in Chief, Dallas/Houston
