V icenza, Italy- and New York-based Andrea Bianconi returned to town this fall to stage his 10th show at long-time dealer Barbara Davis Gallery. Bianconi, whose works exhibited at the 2018 World Economic Forum in Davos caught the eye of Bill Gates, is known for drawings, sculpture, and performance edged with nuance and Surrealism. The title of his Houston exhibition, "Prisoner of Love," referenced a recent performance enacted at a prison in Milan where Bianconi tapped female inmates as participants. The day before his gallery opening, Bianconi crafted a performance and store-window installation for the Kiton boutique in the River Oaks District; the storied Italian fashion house carries a capsule collection of T-shirts bearing drawings by Bianconi. A portion of the artistic evening benefitted the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
