112 OUTTA THE BOX CATHERINE D. ANSPON BASKS IN A BIG ART NIGHT. PHOTOGRAPHY JENNY ANTILL CLIFTON. T his cleverly designed fundraiser, A Dinner for the Moody, doubled as a two-year anniversary bash for Rice University's Moody Center for the Arts. Collectors/ patrons Leslie and Brad Bucher chaired the inaugural benefit — a deconstructed multimedia happening that mirrored the inventiveness of the think tank/art space where it all took place. The Buchers and Moody Center director Alison Weaver blended the visual arts, via Houston artist Natasha Bowdoin's exuberant oversized floral installation, with participatory elements, including the cocktail hour's flower-making station and a chance to playfully draw with the Google Tilt Brush. City Kitchen devised the seated dinner, served on tables amongst terrarium centerpieces with live dart frogs. Late night, the Lois Chiles Studio Theater transformed into a silent disco, where attendees donned headphones and grooved on, along with performers from the Open Dance Project.
