32 TWOxTWO'S NEW ERA 22 YEARS AND $92 MILLION LATER T he following Saturday, 500 from the swellegant set attended TWO x TWO's main event, the black-tie gala — the cul- mination of 10 days of parties. This year, as with most of the 21 gala fundraisers to date, was sold out. TWO x TWO founders Cindy and Howard Rachofsky have constructed the perfect equation for gala success: plenty of passion, both for the Dallas Museum of Art and amfAR; a gorgeously designed space (for several years now, a geodesic dome tent on the front lawn of the Rachofsky House, the interior of which is magically transformed by Todd Events); Ruinart champagne flowing all night, a se- duction to encourage high bids on the world-class art auctioned off that evening; and a star-studded crowd from all realms of art, fashion, and society. This year, said crowd included 2019 honoree Alex Katz and wife Ada, Ross Bleckner, Minjung Kim, Eric N. Mack, Derek Fordjour, Joan Semmel, N. Dash, Quinn Tiver (grandson of Elizabeth Taylor), Vogue's Hamish Bowles, Gavin Brown, Hope Atherton, and Princess Marie-Chantal and Prince Pavlos of Greece. And, for the finale, a noted headliner per- forms: This year, it was Aloe Blacc, who entertained the crowd with hits including "I Need a Dollar" and "The Man." This formula ensured that more than $8 million was raised, which combined with the prior 21 years brings the total to a mind-boggling $92 million. This year had added significance. Howard Rachofsky announced that the leadership of amfAR and the DMA had apportioned a percentage of the night's proceeds to help support Dallas communities impacted by the devastating tornado that had hit the week prior. And in more news, the Rachofskys had announced shortly after last year's gala that they would be passing the baton of TWO x TWO leadership. "It's time to think proactively about the future of this event," he said, "and we are so pleased that Lisa and John Runyon have agreed to share the mantle of leadership. We can't wait to see what their chapter at the helm will look like." Indeed, this year marked the first year that the Runyons steered this very chic ship — the perfect art-world force to continue the legacy of TWO x TWO's magnificent fundraising.
