T he Dallas Symphony O r c h e s t r a 's a n n u a l Soluna International Music & Arts Festival is known for attracting major talent (Jennifer Hudson, St. Vincent) — and its sixth season is no exception. On stage from April 3 to 21 are shows ranging from alt- rock band The Flaming Lips (with an orchestral version of their quintessential '90s album The Soft Bulletin) to a debut from Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Du Yun, as well as appearances by the Dallas Black Dance Theatre and underground music legends Josh Abrams & Natural Information Society. Most venues are in the Dallas Arts District, although The Kronos Quartet performs a "live documentary" — the San Francisco group's first Dallas appearance in 13 years — at The Texas Theatre. Festival Passes from $75; full schedule at mydso. com/soluna. SUN, MOON, STARS O ver the last few years, Dallas has become one of the most dynamic food scenes in the country. This month, join PaperCity Dallas editor in chief Michalene Busico at the Dallas Museum of Art to hear about it. Busico, who was previously restaurant critic at the Dallas Morning News, will be one of four speakers giving "Made in Texas" lectures that night. Each will explore an area of homegrown art and culture. Joining Busico are John Slate, City of Dallas archivist and film historian, on film; jazz legend Roger Boykin on music; and Rice University professor Geoff Winningham on photography. It's also the museum's monthly Late Night, so night owls can wander the galleries until 11 pm. Late Night Talk: Made in Texas, Friday, March 20, 7 pm, at the Dallas Museum of Art, dma.org. LET'S TALK TEXAS Y ou wouldn't pinpoint Jan-Pieter Zweegers as an antiques dealer. Zweegers prefers the Old World furniture trade to the modern-day digital grind. As co-owner of Antiques & Vintage in Forney and Round Top, Zweegers, who now calls Dallas home, hails from Holland and Belgium, while his business partner, At Weijers, a 20- year veteran of the antiques biz, remains in Holland. They scour the European markets for antiques and vintage finds to send back to Texas, concentrating on architectural salvage (doors, shutters, corbels, beams), antiques, and lighting.
