114 A LOOK BACK AT OUR RECENT DANCE CARDS BY BILLY FONG W e are winded just going through the pictures of the social season of late. My, how our Smythson agendas (BTW, we prefer the Soho in navy mock croc) were crammed with lunches, launches, garden parties, and galas. Perhaps it's time to book a room at Betty Ford to give our livers a rest. But, alas, how can we ever say no to a coupe fi lled to the brim with bubbles. Finding ourselves at every conceivable valet queue from Brook Hollow Golf Club to the Omni Dallas Hotel, it was maddening coming up with just the right chitchat timed for your car's delivery. Lately, we've been given to tracking the maneuvers of Highland Park Village real estate like a version of Monopoly. "Have you seen how they've redone Brunello Cucinelli? It's divine." And then, if it's taking a while for our ride to pull up, going on to comment, "I've blown through my cashmere allowance for the year." Let's start with some of the more casual events (yes, we do like to have the temperature dip slightly in hope of a sable coat to throw over an evening gown). We adore the annual TACA Lexus Party on the Green, because it's an opportunity to sip and taste intriguing new creations from Dallas chefs while watching performances by the organization's grant recipients. Also, an afternoon that was all about business attire was the Young Women's Preparatory Network Girls Innovate event. STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) is the core focus for YWPN, whose network of schools includes Irma Lerma Rangel in Dallas, Fort Worth's Young Women's Leadership Academy, and Young Women's College Preparatory Academy in Houston.
