L ike her soothing interiors, V i c t o r i a H a g a n 's n e w collection for The Shade Store takes cues from nature, with warm earth tones and cool blues and grays evocative of memorable landscapes. She asks us to imagine curtains billowing in a soft breeze on a lazy afternoon, or the sun and moon reflecting on the ocean at different times of day. Her draperies, roman shades, and cornices add a breezy touch to windows in lightweight linen, stripes, and weaves. The collection comes in six materials and 24 colors. Animals, vines, and ferns form a dense panorama for this latest capsule collection, which includes wallpaper, upholstered seating, and occasional and coffee tables and cabinets in natural oak, lacquer, and metal. Bois Paradis, created by Sacha Walckhoff, creative director of Christian Lacroix Maison, is the third collection to emerge from the collaboration between the two French design houses. The to-the-trade showroom focuses on custom handcrafted furniture and accessories under the AF Home label, art by local artists, and vintage and antique finds. For those sans a designer moniker, he offers interior and visual design services to the public, along with furniture and accessories via his website. A flame of hope during these difficult times: Farha's Maison 20 candles are clean-burning and contribute to a good cause. Proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. Rebecca Sherman T om Faulkner's furniture is sleek, sculptural, and often boundary- pushing in its use of materials and unique forms. He credits his early years at Chrysalis Records in London for igniting the creativity that birthed his first piece of furniture, a coffee table decorated with spray paint and stencils. He left the music business to start his own company, then fell in love with metalworking in 1995. Inspired, he built a furniture collection using bronze and steel; many pieces now incorporate marble, timber, glass, leather, and plaster. It's all handmade at his workshop in Wiltshire, England. Faulkner's newest collection, Papillon, riffs upon the bended limbs of the Joshua tree and features metal bases with ombré- effect finishes and glass tops with iridescent c o a t i n g s .
