F or decades, Knox District has ranked among the city's hot- test real estate, even while maintaining its designation as one of Dallas' most charming neighborhoods. But after recent tenant moves, the impend- ing Restoration Hardware gallery store, and the flurry of construction F rench luxury company Hermès is nothing if not always on brand. An aside … A few months back, I received a gift card for my birthday with an undisclosed amount. As this was during COVID lockdown, I called customer service. A chic French voice shared that one of their operators would be with me shortly — followed not by muzak, but by the clippity-clop sound of horses hooves. In my mind's eye, they spent their time in isolation brainstorming new products, and sure enough, there's a new fragrance: H24, the first men's cologne since Terre d'Hermès debuted 15 years ago. The fresh green scent — blended from clary sage, narcissus, rosewood essence, and sclarene — veers from traditional men's eau de parfums, which rely on woodiness. Given the battle cry KNOX, KNOX, WHO'S THERE TIMELESS MAN RETAIL ROMANTIC around the new 297,000-square- foot Weir's Plaza, the coveted corner of the city feels primed for a new phase. Enter Highland Park Village Management. Led by Stephen Summers and Ray Washburne (whose families own Highland Park Village), the company was tapped to help lease, market, and manage retail holdings in the Knox District area. "I think there's a lot of potential for Knox in terms of bringing in some really interesting leases on the retail, food and beverage, and hotel side to take it to the next level," says Summers. And though Summers can't yet share details on potential new names in the neighborhood (they've already seen an outpouring of interest), he was able to touch on the team's shared vision for Knox District. He anticipates a focus on health and wellness tenants playing off of the Katy Trail, with some unique restaurant experiences. A hotel could also finally find its way to the neighborhood. "We have a really great opportunity to develop the parcel along the Katy Trail [from Sid Mashburn to Grange Hall] and create hotel and green space along the trail," Summers says. "Obviously, it's a strange time to be looking at a hotel because of COVID-19, but long-term, I think it's a fabulous hotel location. It's a great, walkable district with incredible food and beverage that's only going to get better." knoxdistrict.com. This month, after a successful pop- up at Market in Highland Park Village, LoveShackFancy settles into a permanent home, in HPV, next to the Carolina Herrera boutique. For their first Texas boutique, there's the same dreamy design as their stores in NYC, Palm Beach, Sag Harbor, Newport, and L.A., with climbing pink roses, pots of potted peonies, and sweet vintage furniture. Racks of vintage-inspired dresses mix with quilts, candles, and bath towels from the LoveShackFancy home collection, and there are little-girl frocks.
