Winter Antiques Show SHINES Kathy Johnston at The Compound Katy Bader Kristin Light at Bader Ranch (Continued on page 122) T he 2021 Round Top Winter Antiques Show came hot on the heels of the resoundingly s u c c e s s f u l F a l l 2020 Show (in a pandemic, no less) — by far the largest Winter Show to date, both in terms of attendance and participating venues and vendors. Serious buyers and happy weekenders flocked to more than a dozen venues in Burton, Round Top, Carmine, and Warrenton, including Big Red Barn, The Compound, Bader Ranch, Ex-cess, Market Hill, Chelsea's Meadow, Y Station, The Venue, and Blue Hills (its first time participating in the Winter Show). For those uninitiated to the antiques shows, the Winter Show is ideal for a long weekend spent in Round Top to get a lay of the land and enjoy crisp January weather — the winter iteration is optimal for intimate connections with favorite dealers without the heavy crowds of the spring and fall. Meghan Horne, Susan Horne at Susan Horne Antiques, Market Hill Masks were required at all venues, and CDC guidelines regarding hand sanitizers and social distancing were followed. Year-round eateries were bustling — Lee Ellis' Round Top Smoke House sold out of barbeque by early afternoon each day, despite doubling its standard quantities, and lucky were those who were able to snag a Frito pie. The newly christened Round Top Antiques & Design Center (RTAD) in Henkel Hall had recently opened and will be a year-round venue. The Round Top Antiques Show Guide spotted Courtney Barton at her year-round Round Top Village boutique; The Frenchie Guesthouses and Bader Ranch's Katy Bader and Kristin Light, shopping the fields for their newest guest house; Cisco Pinedo and sister Maurishka Pinedo at their new Cisco Home; Kathy Johnston holding court at The Compound; Susan Horne and daughter Meghan Horne in the Susan Horne Antiques showroom Bader Ranch 120
