LETTER FROM THE PUBLISHER H appy Spring! This is the 13th edition of the Round Top Antiques Show Guide. What started as a simple two-page map of the antiques corridor has grown into the largest issue yet — and it's the first issue produced by Round Top Publishers. Last fall, I merged my publications and websites into this new company and have great partners in Jim Kastleman and Holly Moore, who are partners in PaperCity magazine, and Chad Miller, a partner in The entire PaperCity team has jumped in to help improve the guide. Excitement around the spring show is always apparent, from the wildflowers in the ditches to the baby calves grazing the countryside. As you know, Round Top and the surrounding communities have been repurposing cow pastures for years. (Note to shoppers: Wear washable shoes.) I'm not sure any- one could have imagined in 1968 that a one-weekend show in a single location could grow into the multi-week, multi-site, multi-community extravaganza that it is today. Shoppers and dealers come from all points of the globe. Many plan their vacations around the dates. The show guide's purpose is to help the novice as well as the veteran. We know the show can be a beast for the first-timer. Even Holly Moore, who has shopped the show for years, has lost her car in the Warrenton fields. We don't want that to happen to anyone — and if it does, text one of us; we'll send a rescue. For show veterans, we will introduce you to new shopping spots, places to eat, drink and stay, and which dealers are in which venues. In fact, the guide is designed as a year-round fount of information for future trips to the Roundtopolis. There's plenty to do in Round Top, Carmine, Fayetteville, Brenham, Giddings, and La Grange 365 days a year. Here's wishing you easy planning, great times, and some advice: Always, always, always drive Texas friendly. Katie Dickie Stavinoha Publisher Katie Dickie Stavinoha 14
