THE GRAY DOOR Dishing and Dining for City ArtWorks DAVE ROSSMAN, SETH VAUGHAN Honoree Cindi Rose, Keelan Wackman I t was a record-breaking day for City ArtWorks at its annual Art of Conversation Luncheon. Three hundred ardent art and education supporters convened at the Junior League of Houston to benefit the organization originally established by Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, which organizes art classes in 50 area public schools, impacting 3,000 students. Chair duo Mady Kades and PaperCity's Catherine Anspon, along with honorary chairman Cindi Rose, presided. After lunch — which naturally included the League's famous pecan balls — auctioneer Wade Wilson hammered down the winning lot: a mammoth balloon sculpture emblazoned with images of City ArtWorks students created by Houstonbased sculptor David Graeve, which went to lucky bidder Sharon Kiel. The luncheon gets its name from its table hosts, who dish and dine with guests. Among the tip-top talkers: Becca Cason Thrash, Dror Zadok, Mark Hanson, Wendy Watriss and Fred Baldwin, Lester Marks, and Gary Tinterow. (Save the date: Art of Conversation, November 4, chaired by Beth Wolff and Bill Stubbs, honoring artist David Adickes).
