Drag Queens & Dragonflies Rob Dailey Plays Domestic Dress-Up At Neiman Marcus Downtown BY CHRISTINA GEYER. PHOTOGRAPHY REBECCA LORRINE ROBERTSON. S Cindy Rachofsky Elaine Agather tepping into decorator Rob Dailey's pop-up shop at Neiman Marcus Downtown parallels Dorothy's first glance at the Technicolor world of Oz. One peek at the space — filled with skull-embroidered pillows, kaleidoscopic furniture, modern artwork and a shag-rug chandelier — and it was as if we had left Neiman Marcus and entered a psychedelic pad of the chicest person in town. "I'm so proud of Rob!" said Cindy Rachofsky as she Tara swirled through the room. Rachofsky and Desai Elaine Agather hosted the shopwarming in Dailey's honor, saluting his colorful, shopable NM showroom. Rachofsky and Agather are well-acquainted with the talented Mr. Dailey and his aptitude for wild decorating: He helped Agather piece together her Dallas and Fort Worth residences, and he's styling the new abode of Rachofsky's daughter, Meghan Looney. "Let's check this out," declared Josh Madans as he and wife Tracy ventured into Dailey's furnished world. Navigating this fête meant mixing with social swells, art gurus and many of the creative types whose work fills the space. Seen: artist George Sellers showing off his gold-dipped-bug sculptures; Agather's fashion-blog-star daughter Bradley Agather; decorator Joyce Fox; writer Jason Sheeler; art collectors Lisa and John Runyon and Marguerite Hoffman; creative couple David Alkire with Stephanie Brazill; and photographer Alex Remington, whose photograph of a lawn-mowing drag queen drew admiring stares from gallerist Talley Dunn and tastemaker Jessica Jesse. "Don't you just love that?" said Jesse. PHOTOGRAPHY STEVE FOXALL. C alling all would-be Andy Warhols and Jerry Halls: For the Ronald Chairman McDonald House of Dallas Amy McEvoy Young Friends fund-raiser, chairmen Amy McEvoy and Bianca Colgin looked to arguably the most famous discothèque for inspiration, Studio 54. Executing a whirl of sequins, mirrors and smoke in the grand and decidedly undisco-like Ritz-Carlton ballroom required an expert in over-the-top sleights-of-hand. "Amy and I asked Todd Fiscus to scour the state of Texas and procure every disco ball and mirrored surface he could find," said Colgin. While Studio's legendary alum (Truman Capote, Grace Jones, Halston et al.) didn't show for the occasion, nearly 800 junior fête-setters did. There was never a dull moment on the dance floor — thanks to the let's-get-loud ways of DJ Lucy Wrubel, who spun hits from a towering pedestal. Grace Jonesing: Meghan Looney, Laura Noble, Patrick Anderson, Marjon Zabihi, Gibbs Henderson, Alexa Cervantes, Jaclyn Dennis, Stephanie Stare, Leigh and Russ Johnson, Keith Conlon, Michelle Lafitte, Anne Evans, Whitney Knouse, and RMH VIPs Jill Cumnock and Allison Vanderwoude. Loren Maine in a peacock-print headscarf; Matt Williams in a gigantic afro wig; David Vasquez in a silk shirt and bell-bottoms that would have made Mick Jagger proud; and chairmen Colgin and McEvoy, in coordinating gold-lamé looks designed by Mari Hidalgo.
