NOTES ON FASHION BY STEVEN HEMPEL GUCCI 100 COMING TO THE GALLERIA AND A SCREEN NEAR YOU G ucci continues its centennial celebration with a series of pop- ups saluting the Gucci 100 collection — including one at The Galleria. Founded in Florence in 1921, the luxury Italian brand has launched a number of initiatives that capture the spirit of the brand through a contemporary lens. Directed by Alessandro Michele, the Gucci 100 collection is inspired by pop culture, past and present, with ready-to- wear and accessories adorned with lyrics from songs that mention the brand. The Houston pop-up is one of 11 across the U.S. and provides an immersive Gucci 100 experience. Want to take it all in from the comfort of home? Gucci has launched a digital pop-up that explores the space virtually, entirely redesigned in 3-D. gucci.com. STELLA SHARED 3 I nspired by youth, Stella McCartney's latest capsule finds the designer staying true to her roots and collaborating with three like-minded designers to focus on environment, identity, and a side of positivity. Mmmm, sounds delicious. Using Econyl for puffers and vegan materials for shoes, the collection is a way for McCartney to keep things fresh and lend her spotlight to help showcase tomorrow's talents. London artist Ed Curtis, NYC artist and designer Maisie Broome (Myfawnwy), and Antwerp-based graphic artist Tom Tosseyn all created works for the collection, a mix of sustainable materials, psychedelic prints, and hand-drawn logos and doodles. The Stella Shared 3 collection launched with 38 pop-ups at department stores across the United States, with an exclusive Myfawnwy takeover at Stella McCartney SoHo. stellamccartney.com. DIOR'S LATEST MIND-BENDER S neakerheads, rejoice: Dior has released its latest men's sneaker, and it's the perfect multitasker — equally at home at that big dinner date or on the court afterwards for a quick game of hoops. With contemporary curves, the B30 is made of technical material and inspired by French modernism, making it aerodynamic for faster walking and reflective for safety. Available in five colors — one for each weekday (repeat your favorites on the weekend). $1,150, at the Dior boutique, dior.com. OLD MASTERS L ouis Vuitton has partnered with architect Frank Gehry and master perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud to create its latest line of perfumes, Les Extraits. Belletrud has created five new fragrances that modify classic scents with unexpected twists. The project takes two men who are considered masters in their fields and gives them freedom to express themselves within the product. Gehry approached it "from a sculptural point of view. To bring something different to perfume. It's not a finished geometric form, it's just movement. Visual movement with ephemerality." The result looks very Gehry and employs a sheet of aluminum that has been crumpled like fabric to top the bottle, while reimagining the bottle's shape. LV continues to push, reinterpret, and stay hungry, rarely content with the status quo. $530 for 100ml spray, at the Louis Vuitton boutique. 28
