A pair of 19th-century armchairs that have been in Peikert's family for many generations are prominent in the living room, their former pink upholstery replaced by a lively leaf- pattern fabric. Peikert cherishes memories of seeing them as a child in her grandmother's front room at Christmas. "I love knowing that my boys are growing up with them in our house, too."
