THOMAS O'BRIEN W hen news broke at the end of 2020 that Highland P a r k Vi l l a g e m a n a g e m e n t company had been tapped to oversee retail holdings in the Knox Street neighborhood, expectations were high. While most of the retail and restaurant tenants remain under wraps or undecided ("We don't know what the best restaurant group in Dallas is going to be in three years," HPV managing director Stephen Summers tells us), one glittering newcomer has been unveiled: Auberge Resorts Collection will open its first Dallas property in 2025. The intimate hotel and residences will undoubtedly be distinct and give guests prime access to the Katy Trail, as well as Knox Street's buzzy developments. A joint venture with MSD Capital, Trammell Crow Company, and The Retail Connnection, the design team is led by Australia-based Woods Bagot and New York-based Kohn Pederson Fox (KPF), with HKS in Dallas serving as architect of record. Woods Bagot leads the design of the hotel and residences, residential building, and retail; KPF is designing the boutique office building; and OJB Landscape Architecture is creating the green space. With Auberge's local-first philosophy (the first Texas Auberge, Commodore Perry Estate in Austin, established an enviable membership program), this addition will likely be as big a boon for Dallasites as it will be for visitors. knoxstreetdallas.com.
