(Continued from page 98) T he glittering President's Dinner was held in a tent on the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek's grand back lawn. My ever-charming friend Todd Fiscus had shared the evening before that his team at Todd Events had crafted the fabulous soirée. Jan Showers texted me a few weeks before to invite me to sit at her table — to which I quickly responded, "Merci beaucoup" with my go-to emoji: a smiley face with happy hands. When I caught up with Jan that evening, she said, "Claire and I, along with the Kips Bay team, had planned to have the dinner at the Show House. This would have allowed guests to tour the house that evening. After the problems we had with a few of the homeowners, we moved it to the Mansion. On the bright side, we were able to increase the number attending to around 250 from 220." And, what a huge success it was. "We had a waitlist," she whispered. "Nancy Rogers was our primary sponsor, and we are so grateful to her. Next year, we will double the number we had this year as the dinner will be at Brook Hollow Country Club." Some fabulous snippets were overheard that evening. Perhaps the most frequent: "When are you going to see the house?" Everyone brought their A game with fabulous frocks. Standouts for me included: Kelli Ford in a Pucci frock in vibrant shades of purple, accessorized with a stunning pendant; Niven Morgan in a head-to-toe floral Etro suit as chic as any Schumacher wallpaper; and the dynamic duo behind LC Studio Design (who had a room at this year's Show House), Lance Scott in Brunello Cucinelli and Tom Ford and Cecily Waud in Dior. It was my first time meeting darling Waud, and the best way to describe her would be a combination of Edie Sedgwick and Daisy Buchanan. There were too many chic party guests to name them all, but here are a few: Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club executive director Daniel Quintero; Kathy Prounis, Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club trustee; Nazira Handal, Kips Bay director of special events and corporate partnerships; out-of-towners Alessandra Branca, Anthony Baratta, Shelley Johnstone, Christina Kim, Natasha Bradaran, Jeffry Weisman, Christopher Peacock, Chad Graci, Jessica Davias, Huma Sulaiman, Isabel Ladd, Byron Risdon, Michael Hilal, Jonathan Savage, Michael Crotty, Kara Marmion, James Seuss, Colette Sabins: and a fabulous group of locals including Christen Wilson, Ann and David Sutherland, Javier Burkle, Gonzalo Bueno, Jean Liu, Nancy Dedman (on the arm of her dashing nephew, Brad Kelly), Karla McKinley, and Zoe Bonnette (with Doniphan Moore on one arm and Tanner Moussa on the other). Many of the Show House sponsors such as Artistic Tile, Benjamín Moore, Kohler, JennAir, and Sutherland also bought tables for the dinner. I'm already eagerly awaiting the 2023 Dallas President's Dinner.
