Morton added theatrical touches throughout the house, including the entryway with its celestial blue ceiling and upholstered swag border design. Opposite page, from top: A guest bedroom is enveloped in green toile and striped fabric, added when the house was restored in the 1980s. On the wall is a Cecil Beaton drawing. Morton was a trained colorist, as was his longtime partner, artist Harry Lewis. Here, the dining room's blue walls are offset by a salmon- hued ceiling. The table and chairs were original to the house. 86
