G arden & Gun magazine celebrated the launch of its February/March Texas issue with a fête at Blue Hills in Round Top with par tner Explore Charleston. Held during the ever- growing Winter Round Top Antiques & Design show, interior designers, artists and creators were invited for a stunning seated dinner in an antiques pavilion transformed for the evening by Houston-based Cathleen Holloway of Holloway Events into a pastel paradise. Holloway swathed two dramatically long tables in custom pale- blue plaid cloths with accompanying chair cushions in a nod to Blue Hills and the color of a January Texas sky. Bunny Mellon-inspired baskets hung from the rafters, overflowing with greenery, hydrangea, and hyacinth, alongside flickering Bevolo lanterns that cast a dreamy glow. As guests arrived, they exchanged their table number for a Hart jewelry charm to set the guest's intention for the year. The Hillsiders, out of Austin, played old-time melodies with a bluegrass bent while the cocktail of the night was passed: the Double Barrel, concocted of Blade and Bow Kentucky Straight bourbon whiskey, lemon juice and cinnamon honey syrup. Chef Jose Monterrosa of Lulu's Round Top crafted a menu of burrata with beet coulis and balsamic caviar followed by venison tenderloin, with risotto and chocolate bordelaise. For the final course, chocolate panna cotta with fresh wild berries and mint was paired with a neat pour of Blade and Bow bourbon whiskey — an essential pairing, as this was a Garden & Gun affair, after all. Outside, Audi cars, an event sponsor, were pulled up to the tent like fillies to a hitching post, patiently awaiting their riders for the trip home.
