H alle 5 offers more of Sabine Maes Ar t, addressing textiles and materiality in the Natural Collection. The Belgian- born painter who resides in the small village of Werchter is also known for her hand-woven textiles. She incorporates elements from the earth in both canvases and these wall works, including tree branches and rope in her paintings and wool, leather, wood, flax, horsehair, cotton, pineapple fiber, and even ceramics in her weavings. Canvases, textiles, and sheepskins all share a reverence for the land, reflecting a simple palette in shades of off white, bone, or raw earth. "I am mostly inspired by nature: the colors of every season, the bark of the trees, earth tones," the artist says. "The nature of Round Top is like my hometown in Belgium, but only much bigger and wider." At Halle 6, home design and art reign. Make tracks to returning artisans Rick and Denise Pratt's Around the Bend handmade twig furniture. Pratt uses willow branches to create poetic tables, chairs, swings, and baskets; we love his curvy Juneshine Love. Don't miss Found Images for a date with the past and functional objects imprinted with nifty retro images. Also returning is Dallas-based textile maven Mili Suleman of Kufri, who says, "We're focusing on products not available on our site, one-of-a- kind textiles for the home you won't find elsewhere, made in exclusive partnerships with Kufri including handwoven throws/blankets from Bhutan and handwoven textiles from India's contemporary weaving studios." We can't wait to visit these new arrivals: designer Devon Liedtke, known for her edited minimalist take on interiors; Houston figurative painter Haley Bowen; and Mamadou for talismanic African artifacts and statement-making trade beads. Finally, pop by Bachman + Petrie's studio to catch their latest Warhol-esque pop paintings of film stars, sports figures, celebs, crooners like Elvis, and more.
