Debuting in Round Top at a tented Halles space is Tesoros Trading Company out of Austin. The 34-year-old b ra n d d e f i n e d the Austin scene with its collectible global folk art and artisan-made crafts, always a must-stop on South Co n g r e s s u n t i l owners Jonathan Williams and Kisla Jimenez s h u t t e r e d l a s t summer to take a brick-and-mortar break. " We will be bringing mostly i n t e r n a t i o n a l a n t i q u e s a n d textiles from Latin America, Haiti, Vietnam, Morocco, Indonesia, Nepal, and India," says Williams, "all collected during 40 years as an importer of folk art. Plus new handmade products from our current wholesale line." (Tesoros sells wholesale to several hundred stores and museum shops in the U.S.) "I have always tried to find traditional folk art and handmade products that are not already represented in the U.S. market, especially the unique material culture of the different countries I have worked in. I have saved some of the best, and most unusual examples over the years and I hope to find new homes for these treasures in Round Top." Also making its tent debut is Houston-based purveyor whose name says it all. Bug in the Box unfurls natural-history insect taxidermy — perfect to jumpstart your own cabinet of curiosities. Cigar connoisseurs, take note: Guapo Cigars by Haril Walpole returns after a successful Winter Antiques & Design Show debut. Finally, The Halles provides an important amenity: Big shoppers will want to visit the on- site Distinguished Transport booth, to ship all their Round Top treasures.
