OBSESSIONS. DECORATION. SALIENT FACTS. Retail: For once things are quiet in the world of luxury boutiques. At Highland Park Village, Simkhai and Brioni have recently opened. By the time this issue hits the stands, Balmain should have thrown open its hallowed doors. Coming this fall, you can start your shopping wish list for Vacheron Constantin and Loewe … At NorthPark Center, you've likely heard of the slew of recent glamorous openings: Jil Sander, Marni, and Marc Jacobs. Our PR friends over at the retail mecca share that not much movement takes place through the end of the year. The Knox Neighborhood continues to be our culinary mecca. For years, we've been joining the ladies who lunch at Grange Hall and having divine dinners at Georgie or beautiful brunches at Le Bilboquet (which is celebrating its 10th anniversary). Other recent additions include Mister Charles, Pizzana, and Berkley's. By the time we go to press, Green Point Seafood & Oyster Bar and Anchor Sushi Bar should be open. We've tried the latter in Preston Hollow and were impressed. And, given that Green Point is the next concept from Greg Katz (Beverley's Bistro & Bar, Clifton Club), we know it will live up to all the hype. Let's not forget the other fun happenings in that neighborhood that borders the Katy Trail and Uptown. Locally founded flower cart Le Bloom Pop-Up Flower Market at Knox Street will host charming Saturday pop-ups with floral bouquets and the opportunity to create your own on October 14 and 28. Saturday October 28, also brings Knox Street's Fall Celebration with The Family Place. To kickoff the annual Partner's Card, you'll find a festive display dubbed Knox Street's Pumpkin Path at David's Way on the Katy Trail. And, finally, it's one of our favorite seasons: tea time. You'll likely find us at The Taschen Library at The Joule for a Saturday tea on October 8, October 15, or October 22. Your $125 ticket includes savory tea fare, pastries, desserts, fine teas, and a Taschen book to take home. We hear some of our past favorites are once again on this year's menu: Joule pumpkin-spiced egg custard with candied ginger and Benton bacon tapenade and the hazelnut financier with chocolate and poached pear. Family Friendly: Now that the kids have started school, you might need some extracurricular activities to intrigue them. Head to the Nasher Great Create Sunday, October 22. Each year, the Nasher Sculpture Center welcomes guest artists from North Texas and beyond to lead art- making projects with kids and families … One of our favorite Instagram stars, Tika the Iggy, is coming to town. Interabang Books is hosting one of the stops on the book tour for Tika the Iggy: Lessons in Life, Love, and Fashion. This year's event is co-chaired by Morgan Pieper and Krystal Schlegel Davis, and beneficiaries include North Texas Food Bank and New Friends New Life … Next up is the Dallas Symphony Orchestra League's Fashion Notes Luncheon and Style Show Thursday, October 12, at the Meyerson Symphony Center. Hopefully we'll have time to run home for an outfit change for that evening's Klyde Warren Park's Party in the Park … On Saturday, October 14, we'll head to Southfork Ranch for Cattle Baron's Ball. This year's headliner is none other than Shania Twain, whom I quote: "We're gonna let our hair hang down" and whoop it up all in support of the American Cancer Society … The next Saturday, October 21, it's off to one of the most sought-after tickets: TWO x TWO for AIDS and Art Gala and Auction at the Rachofsky House. This is one of the most star-studded affairs, with a veritable who's who of Dallas (and beyond) in attendance … Then we're off to another mid-day affair, the Bryan's House Awards Luncheon Monday, October 23, at Dallas Country Club … On Thursday, October 26, we'll don our Dior kitten heels for Le Meridien Dallas, The Stoneleigh Centennial Gala. The iconic hotel celebrates 100 years with a party that promises to be a step back to the Roaring '20s, benefiting Preservation Dallas … Finally, our month ends with this year's Texas Design Week Dallas, Monday through Friday, October 30 through November 3 (see the schedule starting on page 42) with Kips Bay Decorator Show House Dallas opening November 2 for VIP ticket holders.
