T he 550 Market welcomes new retailer Martin Driskill headed by Susann Pennington and Jeff M. Barnes, the mother- son interior-design duo. Look for French antiques, luxury home decor, residential and commercial interior design services and fine paints by Farrow & Ball. Also new is Viva Denverado, the creation of local entertainer and DJ Denver Courtney and Coty Cole. The couple behind the wildly popular Zapp Hall prom events brings funky vintage upcycled clothing, jewelry, and more to their psychedelic space. On Friday, October 20, The 550 Market's fashion show, The Round Top Runway, returns for a second season of couture western wear from anchoring retailer Rockabilly Baroness, as well as Tres Outlaws Boot Company, Viva Denverado, Eleven11 Leather Designs, Round Top Rounders, Pat Dahnke, Modern Marla and more. It all takes place at Round Top Dance Hall, and Western swing group Western Jelly performs. @the550market. R ound Top's healthy eating spot Casa Blanke is changing hands and changing names. New owner Lori Allen is committed to keeping a few fan favorites on the menu and to building on Casa Blanke's clean-nutrition mission with the addition of gluten-free baked goods and a legit espresso bar with all the milk alternatives. Meet the new Mill Street Café. The fresh fruit and vegetable smoothies, avocado toasts, and seasonal salads carry over from Kasey Massey's Casa Blanke menu, with new additions such as plain and chocolate croissants, vegan and gluten-free oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, and a gluten-free fudge brownie, ham-and-Swiss puff pastry, sandwiches, salads, and a charcuterie. Since Kasey plans to spend a bit more time in Houston as she and her husband, Mayor Mark Massey, await the birth of their first child, she has turned the keys and the reins over to Allen. Allen spent the last decade setting up her mobile coffee and cookie bar Lolli's Table at shows and markets all over Texas before opening her first café, KaffeeHaus, in her hometown of Fredericksburg. She will offer the same award-winning Greater Goods coffee at Mill Street Café that she serves at KaffeeHaus. Mill Street Café, 102 E. Mill St., Round Top. O n Thursday, October 19, Cisco Village hosts its second Western Vintage Fashion Show on its woven patchwork carpet runway, showcasing original, handmade, upcycled, and vintage clothing and accessories from Round Top vendors; cocktails by Crown Bar; and live music. The event benefits the Festival Hill Gardens & Grounds committee, a group committed to improving the outdoor environment at Round Top Festival Institute. Stay tuned for more details.
