Colefax And Fowler traces its quintessentially British design roots to the 1930s with society decorator Lady Sibyl Colefax, and later with renowned designers John Fowler and Nancy Lancaster, who created the English country house look. British textile designer Jane Churchill, known as Lady Charles Spencer-Churchill and the former wife of the 10th Duke of Marlborough, is both posh and pedigreed, designing fabrics that are fresh, vibrant, and often with a contemporary twist. Larsen, founded in 1952 by the late revered American designer Jack Lenor Larsen, continues to produce woven fabrics inspired by textile traditions and weaving techniques throughout the world. Manuel Canovas, who founded his textiles firm in the 1960s in France, designs fabrics that feature large-scale prints in audacious color combinations that are instantly recognizable. And, Cowtan & Tout, the American firm founded in 1924 and acquired in 1988 by Colefax and Fowler, continues with its American point of view with a focus on colorful, classic designs for wallcoverings, wide- width sheers, and indoor/outdoor fabrics.
