Bodii Lim, Shane Morgan, Diane Moten PAPERCITY PROMOTION Celebrates 35 Years of Providing Care for Children With Special Needs O ne of Dallas' most beloved nonprofits, B r y a n 's H o u s e , r e c e n t l y h e l d its annual luncheon at Dallas Country Club to celebrate 35 years of providing trusted case management, educational, therapeutic, and medically supported care to children with special needs and their families. The colorful event, with tables decorated with butterflies and bright flower bouquets (the luncheon was presented by the Lone Star Monarchs, after all), kicked off with co- chairs Regina Bruce and Dr. Carla Russo introducing nine-time Emmy award-winning senior reporter of WFAA-TV Rebecca Lopez, who emceed the event. A six-tier cake made by Shane Morgan of Posh Cakes was also introduced, evoking oohs and aahs across the ballroom. During the live auction, guests bid on high-dollar items and experiences. Photography Danny Campbell and Rob Wythe/Wythe Portrait Studio dollars were raised from winning (and many matching) bids for popular lots such as a private backyard barbecue from Dallas chef Kent Rathbun with brews from Kingsville Brewery and a Dallas Stars VIP experience for an upcoming game, including a meet- and-greet with the players, presented by the brewery's owner, former Stars goalie Marty Turco. When the bidding was complete, Mickey Rowe took the stage to speak about growing up with autism and wishing he had a place like Bryan's House for support. "My mother never told me I had autism. My grandma was my Bryan's House," he says. He went on to star as the first autistic actor to play the lead role in the play The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. He left the stage encouraging the audience to always be brave.
