OBSESSIONS. DECORATION. SALIENT FACTS. Sugar & Sage W ith spring break on the horizon, the thought of a resort in Mexico teeming with students isn't terribly appealing. Might we suggest a staycation at a place we already consider our home away from home: The Ritz-Carlton, Dallas — the first Forbes Travel Guide five-star hotel in Texas. If you're obsessed with Feud: Capote vs. The Swans, you may have fallen down some Google holes searching for background on these dazzling divas. We recently learned that Babe Paley made her debut in 1934 at The Ritz-Carlton in Boston. The Ritz-Carlton, Dallas, has recently undergone a multi-million-dollar renovation. Building on the reimagining of the spa two years ago, all 218 guest rooms and suites, the lobby and public areas, and the Ritz-Carlton Club Lounge were masterfully crafted by Houston-based Rottet Studio, whose founder, Lauren Rottet, has designed The Surrey, NYC; Four Seasons Hotel Chicago; The Beverly Hills Hotel Bungalows; and The St. Regis Aspen Resort, to name a few. The guest rooms and suites have been redone in rich walnut contrasted with bone-colored ribbed lacquer and copper and rose-gold accents that complement the building's Art Deco-inspired architecture. But there's more: After a $55 million renovation, The Ritz-Carlton Dallas, Las Colinas, is also ready to welcome guests. Situated on 400 acres of prime Las Colinas real estate (formerly known as the Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas and The Las Colinas Resort) are the verdant fairways of the TPC Las Colinas, majestic mesquite trees, and wildflowers in a kaleidoscope of colors. ritzcarlton. com. Billy Fong SUP makes life better. When I'm on deadline (and when I'm not), Sexy Unique Podcast is my go-to listen. Writer- comedians Lara Marie Schoenhals and Carey O'Donnell, the duo behind the hit podcast, have carved out a niche in the vast sea of podcasts. Whether recapping a Real Housewives episodes or going over the finer points of the latest Scandoval, the two enlighten with hilarious takes on what is and isn't happening in the world of reality TV, celebrity news, and the Bravosphere. Now SUP is taking the show on the road with a live podcast, making their first visit to Texas to perform in Dallas/Fort Worth at Tulips on Saturday, March 2, and in Austin at Parish Monday, March 4. Part stand-up, part improv, and part study on the American experience, the live shows are a chaotic treat. Michelle Aviña S ince its opening almost 60 years ago, NorthPark Center has been in constant evolution. When we visit the beloved retail mecca, we hear so many conversations in French, Spanish, and Chinese that it makes us feel oh-so globally connected while we search for the perfect kitten heel … Some of our favorite boutiques have undergone renovations or relocated to more substantial spaces, including Nike, Gucci, Longchamp, Maje, and Byredo. Joining the mix since last summer are new boutiques Jil Sander and Marc Jacobs. Whip out your AmEx Black Card for more upcoming 2024 debuts: Givenchy, Etro, Prada, Reformation, and Marine Layer … If you're feeling peckish after a marathon day shopping, check out the first Dallas location of Joey. On a recent visit, we sampled Korean fried cauliflower while sipping an Aperol Spritz — a pairing as divine as enjoying the spring weather on Joey's large patio … Blossoming this month is the Texas debut of Fleurs de Villes Artiste. Founded in 2015 by lifestyle and media masterminds Tina Barkley and Karen Marshall, Fleurs de Villes (flowers of the cities) specializes in bespoke floral experiences and activations. With more than 90 exhibitions under their belt they've garnered quite the anthophile following. At the NorthPark exhibition, you'll encounter 15 flower-bedecked mannequins created by North Texas' most visionary floral designers. Like the most ephemeral of blooms, you'll only be able to see it Wednesday – Sunday, March 20 – 24. Billy Fong and Caitlin Clark 30
