T here's perhaps no heavier cause than child abuse — but as Dallas Children's Advocacy Center president and CEO Irish S. Burch told the crowd at Art for Advocacy, the nonprofit's largest fund-raiser of the year, "I know hope will continue to bloom because we see children and their families walk out of our doors more whole, healed, and ready for what lies ahead." This year's event was co- chaired by Courtney Gilbert, Amy Grissen, and Holly Lawrence, with Brandon Harris serving as curatorial chair. The fête drew a crowd of philanthropists who vied in the silent auction for artworks donated by more than 60 artists. Auctioneer Letitia Frye inspired an enthusiastic bidding war in the live auction for works including a portrait by Barbara Hack and a photograph by Costa Christ. In all, the event shattered previous records, raising $1.64 million for the agency.
