DIOR'S NEWEST HIGH JEWELRY COLLECTION TANTALIZING TOILE: T oile du Jouy has been an emblem of the house of Dior since the beginning, as it enveloped the original Colifichets boutique via sumptuous wallcoverings, upholstery, canopy, and counters. Now, high jewelry artistic director Victoire de Castellane — who has been inspired by Dior's original house codes since her debut in 1999 and masterfully marries refinement with luxuriousness — has interpreted toile du Jouy into Dior's latest high jewelry collection, both playfully and literally named Diorama & Diorigami. Castellane was inspired by a stroll through the gardens of Milly- By Anne Lee Phillips la-Forêt. In Diorama, the dreamy idyllic toile motif plays out in precious three- dimensional forms of flora and fauna: On a necklace, a gold diamond-clad rabbit leaps into a scintillating diamond bush. Another necklace magnificently captures a fox, squirrel, and deer in vibrant chrysoprase, utilizing the ancestral technique of glyptics, the art of precisely carving and sculpting precious stones. Each set highlights a single color, and Dior Joaillerie's signature lacquer technique enhances the nuance of the enchanting bucolic designs conveyed through precious stones such as emeralds and tsavorite garnets. The offerings of Diorigami are a stunning abstract representation of nature and are a tribute to the Japanese paper folding art of origami: A necklace, ring, and earrings portray flourishing greenery.
