(Continued from page 36) T he best-dressed award, hands down, went to Jennifer Karol. She'd told me about the creation of this dress over cocktails months prior. She had been enthralled by Gillian Anderson at this year's Golden Globes Awards: a custom ivory gown by Gabriela Hearst. What enthralled Karol was when it was revealed that the quite classic, even demure dress was actually embroidered with an intricate series of vulvas. The actress, known for her roles in The X-Files and Sex Education, had decided to make a feminist statement with her lewk that evening. Karol, also wanting to give a nod to women's rights, decided to have a dress made in the same fabric and reached out to Conservatory founder Brian Bolke for assistance. After a few tense weeks of texting back and forth between Bolke and Hearst, and Hearst to Anderson, approval was finally given. Karol looked effortlessly chic as she swanned into the Contemporary that evening on the arm of her husband, Tom. The dinner was curated by Headington Companies, with each course spotlighting one of its restaurants. The first course, a nod to the Tango Room, was snapper crudo with Fuji apple, cucumber, cilantro, rice cracker, and nuoc cham. Then we had a taste of Sassetta via filet mignon, gold potato pavé, wild mushroom, and watercress. The decadent dessert was a caviar donut courtesy of Mirador, which guests enjoyed during a lively auction of works by Chloe Chiasson, Richard Prince, and Jammie Holmes, as well as a package to attend Balmain's Paris Fashion Week show and select fashion-week events. In all, $1.2 million was raised that evening to support the organization's cutting-edge exhibitions, engaging programs, and education initiatives. Spotted: artists Andrea Marie Breiling, Luke Harnden, Jammie Holmes, Lawrence Lee, Edwin Marcelin, Umar Rashid, Michelle Rawlings, Carrie Rudd, Gregory Siff, Zeke Williams, Paul Winker, and Monsieur Zohore; auction chairs Sarah Calodney and Tyler Lemkin; Moll and Charlie Anderson; deputy chairman, Christie's, Capera Ryan; Lisa Dawson; Derek Wilson; Tim Headington; Jeny Bania; a contingency from Forty Five Ten, including Dianna Miller, Anne Wallach, Robin Wilkes, and Kyle Branch; and Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd, as well as Kaleta Blaffer Johnson, Kara Goss, Nancy Rogers, Cameron Silver, and Hannah Fagadau.
