Viva (Continued) By Billy Fong. Photography Tamytha Cameron and Celeste Cass. Dallas Las Klyde Warren's Party in the Park A l w a y s a c h i c a n d glittering event in the heart of the Dallas Arts District, Klyde Warren Park's Party in the Park had some very special guests this year, including football royalty and beloved two-time Super Bowl champion and former Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach and his wife Marianne, along with their daughters, former Dallas City Council member Jennifer Staubach Gates, Michelle Grimes, Amy Mentgen, and Stephanie Phillips, with respective husbands John Gates, John Grimes, Jamie Mentgen, and Todd Phillips, as well as their son, Jeff Staubach, with his wife, Jenny. But the guest who had many people twittering was the King himself — one of the best impressions of Elvis in his later glittering-pantsuit Vegas years that I've ever seen (although, granted, I don't hit up a lot of the Elvis acts on the Strip). The 12th anniversary of Party in the Park exceeded its goal of $1 million this year, thanks to the generosity of more than 900 partygoers. Those funds help keep the park clean (crucial, since it welcomed 1.3 million guests last year alone), safe (24-hour-a-day, seven-days-a-week security), and active (more than 1,300 free programs each year — we love the Silent Disco nights with DJ Holly Hands and, of course, the yoga we really should do on the park's lawn the day after). My outfit for the night was an homage to Coco — a few strands of pearls and a black jacket with my uniform shorts (in this case, my black evening pair). My date for the evening was a dear friend, hairstylist Joshua Rossignol; together we made our way to the lawn area nearest the Nancy Best Fountain for cocktails and a speed round of playing catch-up with friends. A few we encountered while sipping rosé: Muffin Lemak, DeeDee Lee, and Kathryn Hall, the owner of Hall Wines. Then Elvis made his way through the crowd and performed "Viva Las Vegas." (I secretly hoped for a subtle riff on the lyric: "Viva Las Dallas, turnin' day into nighttime" — but no such luck.)
