(Continued from page 48) (Continued) Roundup Social The T HE COMPOUND TABLESCAPES PREVIEW EVENT A preview evening for Passport to Hope at The Compound benefited the Houston chapter of Susan G. Komen and showcased stunning tablescapes by designers Renea Abbott of Shabby Slips, Alexandra Killion, Suzanne Duin of Maison Maison Design, Mary Patton, Sara Malek Barney of Bandd/Design, Julie Dodson, Sandy Lucas and Sarah Eilers of Lucas/Eilers Design, Petra McKenzie and Jasmine Thompson of MK Workshop and Michael Harold and Quinn Peeper, authors of Classical Shindig (Octavia Books). The flower-laden tablescape by Melanie Tipton of Last Petal was especially verdant, with stunning flowers running the length of the outdoor table. Michael Harold's tablescape was perched inside an antique iron-and-glass greenhouse, the cumulative effect inspiring wistful images of misty England. Houston restaurant a'Bouzy created cocktails and delicious small plates: Bees Knees cocktail (Silent Pool gin, fall honey syrup, and lemon juice) paired with truffled egg salad was a winner. Gazing and Grazing: Rachel Franklin, Courtney Anderson, Allison Carl, and Aimeé Carranza. Leah Gabriel E LLIS MOTEL LUAU Ellis Motel's inaugural luau drew a lively crowd to Henkel Square Market to share the whole-hog roast by Merritt Meat Company, try their luck at a charity dunk tank, and enjoy live music and shopping on the square. Austin party band Satellite cranked out pop tunes at full volume from the front porch of Kemo Sabe. The indoor bar at Ellis was filled to capacity by early evening, spilling partygoers in leis, grass skirts, and coconuts into the courtyard, libations in hand. Everyone cheered and jeered local celebs in the charity dunk tank set up on the lawn — a benefit for Camp for All. First in the tank was former Round Top mayor Mark Massey, who was repeatedly dunked by locals and twice by his own wife, Kasey Massey. Ellis Motel bartender and all-around good sport Claire Dettling was another dunkee who braved the tank for the cause. Peckish partygoers grazed on charcuterie trays prepared by Zuzi Calk of The Little Cheese Shop Top and Merritt Meat Company barbeque, with portions of pork meat and cracklings from the hog roast. Rockin' the lei: Jill Malouf, Jan- Pieter Zweegers, Lesley McGinnis, Mackenzie Palladino, Deanna Opheim, Caitlyn Johnson, Amy Hull, and Avery Best.
