46 A Swan Song By Billy Fong. Photography Daniel Seung Lee. A fter a quarter century, the fundraising jug- gernaut that is TWO x TWO for AIDS and Art Gala has bid us adieu. As in years past, a slew of events led up to the final star-studded soirée, in a geodesic dome on the capacious lawn of Rachofsky House (the iconic Preston Hollow home de- signed for Howard Rachofsky by Richard Meier). Past guests have included Sharon Stone, Alan Cumming, Harry Belafonte, and Liza Minnelli, with performers ranging from Diana Ross to Chaka Khan and de- signers including Jeremy Scott and Adam Lippes. TWO x TWO began in 1999 to support two organizations (hence, the name): the Dallas Museum of Art and amfAR, the nonprofit co-founded by Elizabeth Taylor in 1985 to fund AIDS research. Through its swan song, TWO x TWO was a highlight of the Dallas fall social season and always sold out. A new First Look Dinner, designed by Todd Events, was held in collaboration with the global arts club The Cultivist and Capital One. Chef Thomas Keller prepared a sumptuous dinner for guests assembled to preview the eagerly anticipated auction. Perhaps you've heard of Keller — the chef with a cult-like following, famed for his restaurants where it's nearly impossible to garner a reservation: The French Laundry, Per Se, Bouchon, and Ad Hoc. The well-heeled crowd invited by Cindy and Howard Rachofsky and Lisa and John Runyon, co-chairs of the TWO x TWO gala, included Todd Fiscus and Ceron, Jennifer Eagle, Rajan Patel, Marlies Verhoeven, Ashley Venetos, Lauren Hall Haskins, Jacquelin and William Atkinson, Lucy Wrubel, and Christopher Wood. The gala raised more than $10.2 million for the dual causes, thanks to 100 lots of art, collectibles, and contemporary works that created a bidding frenzy amongst the 500 guests. Lest there be huge hole in next fall's social calendar, the Dallas Museum of Art announced late last year that the October time slot would be taken over by Art Ball (which previously occurred in the spring). We're all looking forward to what co-chairs Alana Sada and Gonzalo Bueno have in store for us on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
