ICON ICON An for an V alentine's Day may only happen once a year, but the women of Dallas are always ready for that most beguiling gathering of galentines, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's St. Valentine's Day Luncheon & Fashion Show. This year's event at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, themed XOXO Sending Love and Care, raised more than $640,000 to eradicate blood cancers, which impact more than 1.7 million people in the U.S. There are actually two fashion shows at this annual extravaganza: the Jan Strimple- p r o d u c e d r u n w a y s h o w from Highland Park Village retailers (La Vie Style House, Veronica Beard, Simkhai, Lela Rose, Carolina Herrera, and LoveShackFancy), and the arrival of the guests themselves. All 650 took the theme to heart, offering air kisses (Xs) and hugs (Os). Every pink quilted Chanel flap bag and Lady Dior in Dallas hits the town for LLS. Courtney Petit and Caitlin Wilson co-chaired this year's event, with Mona and Grey Stogner serving as honorary chairs and Fox4 anchor Clarice Tinsley emceeing. Former First Lady Laura Bush accepted this year's Icon Award. For the Bush family, the devastation of blood disease hits close to home: President George W. Bush's younger sister, Robin, lost her battle with leukemia at the age of three. Also honored were Dr. Robert Berryman (Lynda Adleta Heart of Gold Award), the late Larry Hagman, who died from acute myeloid leukemia (Memorial Hero Award), and college student Jude Cobler, a five-time leukemia survivor (Spirit of Tom Landry Award).
