A Passion for Fashion from South to North This Just in 10 F rom pop-up to permanent: Thanks to its resounding success, Latin-American fashion collective South to North's pop-up shop will remain in its super chic boutique in Houston's Autry Park. In March, they also went west to Austin, with a pop-up on bustling South Congress, open through the end of August. Co-founders Luisa Babarczy and Alejandra Bravo, two Colombian-born fashion entrepreneurs living in Houston, first connected at the Latin American Fashion Summit and sought to bring more LATAM fashion brands to Texas. Their goal was to position Latin American design — with its rich textile traditions, use of sustainable materials, and untapped potential — in the heart of the global luxury fashion conversation. One step into the beautiful boutique designed by Alexandra Killion Interiors, which highlights the richness and elegance of the clothing, and you're sold. Babarczy and Bravo are impeccably stylish and also incredibly knowledgeable, approachable, and fun. They passionately believe shopping should be experiential — and with each new collab, there's an exciting twist, be it an opulent dinner party in honor of Agua by Agua Bendita or a discussion panel in the morning and cocktails in the evening with Karla Martinez, editor in chief of Vogue Latin America, and Ana Lia Acedo, creative director of Stathe. "It's important to us that all the brands at South to North carry a significant, valuable story," Babarczy says. "For us, telling that story is a huge responsibility, and it's part of the experience — part of how our customer walks out understanding that one of her pieces was made by this woman in the artisan community of Cusco in Peru, and her dress took 20 days to make. That's what people are craving now." The majority of brands they carry are exclusive to South to North in Texas. Look for standouts Escvdo, Montserrat Messeguer, Flabelus, Laura Aparicio, and Susana Vega, as well as an increasing number of South to North exclusives.
