Gallery Arsin Rug IS PASSIONATE ABOUT THE ART OF THE HANDMADE RUG — AND HAS BEEN FOR MORE THAN A CENTURY PAPERCITY PROMOTION A rsin Rug Gallery, dating back to Tehran's Grand Bazaar in 1910, has been instrumental in setting the standard in the rug industry for more than a hundred years. The Arsins moved the business to the United States 20 years ago and continue their tradition of bringing some of the world's most exquisite rugs and textiles to Texas, with showrooms in Houston and Dallas. The Arsin family, brothers James Arsin and Saeid Arsin, along with Rose Arsin, are the fourth generation to continue the legacy, and it's evident that this is more than a profession — it's a passion. "Our family loves what we do, and we're 100 percent confident in our rugs," Rose says. "Handmade rugs are an investment. We want ours to find the best possible home. A rug really makes a house a home and makes it feel warm. A rug pulls it all together." If you think you know what goes into making a rug, spend just 10 minutes speaking with Rose Arsin, vice president of Arsin Rug Gallery. You'll never look at a rug the same. The Arsins seek out hand-knotted, handmade rugs that have much longer durability than machine-made, with some rugs in the showrooms 300 to 400 years old. The Arsins travel the world searching for the finest rugs, with Persian, Turkish, Oriental and European designs of particular interest, restoring them by hand when needed, with more than 15,000 rugs between the two showrooms in Texas. From their wholesale business to their Design Council, which offers designers a firsthand look into their products, Arsin Rug Gallery caters to its clients. If a client is undecided about a rug, they can take it on approval and try it for a few days in their home. If a rug needs to be cleaned, it's picked up, taken it to the showroom to be cleaned, and reinstalled. "We treat every client like family because we want everyone to feel comfortable working with us," Rose says. "It's just part of who we are." New to the showrooms is a custom option for designers to design their own rugs — everything from the shape to the size, color, and texture. Currently, Rose sees two directions in interior design when it comes to rugs and textiles: very modern or an antique aesthetic. "We're not seeing a lot of transitional aesthetics right now," she says. "There's a new appreciation of antique rugs with clients understanding their value, so that's been fun to see." These rugs are really works of art. "Each is vegetable-dyed with handwoven knots, so lead times can be four to six months for an 8-by-10 rug," she says. "If we don't have the right rug in the showroom, we'll source it for you from anywhere in the world." arsinruggallery.com Saeid Arsin Rose Arsin Arsin Rug is celebrating its 115th anniversary on September 18, from 4 to 6 pm, at Decorative Center Houston.
