Letter from the Editor PHOTOGRAPHY SARA SEE S o, this is slightly out of my lane: I just left the first Cowboys soirée (that's my way of saying "game") that I've RSVP'd "oui" to in a decade. Thank you, Fancy Nancy, for hosting my sporty Sunday. I was somewhat distraught about what to wear to the first home game of the season, and it took a brunch yesterday where I brought together a group of trusted friends to focus on a sartorial strategy plus a few texts to land on what I kind of always knew would happen: Thom Browne white shirt and navy shorts. Aren't those our home team's colors? If not, I was close enough. Enough about wardrobe decisions … I was pleasantly surprised to be completely consumed by all the action between our beloved Cowboys and the Giants. Quick backstory, I grew up in Tallahassee, Florida State Seminole's territory, and football was a Saturday ritual. I went to many a game — and was bored at many a game back in that era. I know math well enough that four 15-minute quarters should just mean an hour out of my day, but inevitably it meant three to four hours. That said, I hope you caught this game, where we beat the Giants 40 to 37, because I was riveted … especially through overtime. The energy vibrating through that hallowed stadium made me realize that all of Dallas was likely with me in saying: Game on. Pardon me for falling back on a sports cliché, but I plan on adhering to that mantra for the months leading to the end of 2025. I'm ready for all that the fall social season has to offer. I'm not going to expect anything, but rather be ready for anything that happens. There's much for you to enjoy in the October issue in front of you. I was enamored with Rebecca Sherman's profile of Pierce Jordan's Bluffview home. I love a cinematic moment. The shots of the atmospheric interiors with its barrel-vaulted ceilings and floors made from reclaimed French limestone feel like a backdrop for a sexy thriller directed by David Fincher and featuring Cate Blanchett and Keanu Reeves. If you're still in search of items to supplement your wardrobe arsenal, then look no further than our "A Silver Afternoon" fashion spread, and please procure that Givenchy by Sarah Burton white bow shirtdress. If you're taking to heart the Game on mantra, that statement-making piece will have all eyes on you when you enter Mister Charles. And, finally, if you want to take a good ole Texas road trip, check out our picks for the Fall Round Top Antiques & Design Show. Who knows, you might even spy me down there, tooting around in search of a well-priced piece of Georg Jensen silver or a floral mid-century brooch to adorn one of my signature blazers. Keep in mind, it's important to pace yourself this month, even though you may find yourself out and about three to four times a week. Things won't slow down, as November promises to be just as exciting with the return of the Kips Bay Decorator Show House Dallas (VIP Opening Day November 6) and what's shaping up to be a star-studded lineup for the 2025 incarnation of Texas Design Week Dallas, November 3 through 7, including J.J. Martin, founder of LaDoubleJ; Martina Mondadori, founder of Cabana magazine,; Amy Astley, editor in chief of Architectural Digest; Martin Brudnizki and Ashley Hicks, both in from London; and so many more.
