COURTESY THE ARTIST 16 O ne of the hottest shows of the year is happening at the under-the-radar private collector space Cat Spring Collection in the 4411 Montrose gallery building. Don't let the sleeper timing of the month of June fool you: This is an unforgettable peek into works by Houston's infamous provocateur, Just In: Mark Flood '90s Work at Cat Spring PHOTO BY GEORGE HIXSON. COURTESY THE ARTIST. Mark Flood, Batman's Mirror, 1998, at Cat Spring Collection. Mark Flood in studio, 1992. Mark Flood, from his seminal, cool-kids decade of the '90s. "Not only have these works not been seen before, but we didn't even know they existed," says Cat Spring curator Hesse McGraw, who describes the experience of seeing the 30-some works in "Mark Flood: Props" as legendary and mythic. The cryptic Flood — the Greta Garbo of the art world — texted that the show's title refers to "a group of Mark Flood artworks [being used as cinematic props], gathered together to be filmed by Michael Flanagan for his upcoming Flood documentary, Career Suicide." Stay tuned. Also reportedly on view is Flood's first lace painting, in a non-selling exhibition culled from the artist's own career holdings. Through June 30, @catspringcollection, @daily_flood, @hessemcgraw. Catherine D. Anspon
