F ive hundred glowing lanterns floated above Houston's art crowd when Contemporary Arts Museum Houston pulled off its biggest fundraiser ever. CAMH Party, the museum's annual benefit and art auction, raised more than $900,000 this year, making it the most lucrative event in the museum's 78-year history. The glamorous evening, co- c h a i re d b y S u s i e a n d S a n f o r d Criner and Cece and Mack Fowler, was filled with bidding wars, dancing, and artist-packed tables. Events maven Rebecca Johnson of Bergner & Johnson Design transformed CAMH's Brown Foundation Gallery into an immersive dreamscape — a glowing installation that bathed the room in orange, pink, and green. Art lovers in their artistic black-tie best circled the silent and live auction like panthers on the prowl. A toast celebrated the honorees, former CAMH trustees Sissy and Denny Kempner, for their four-decade support of the museum. Record-Bustin' + CAMH's Really Big Night By Emily Potts with Catherine D.
