I generally consider October as the midway mark of the season. (In my mind, December is simply holiday tippling at holiday par- ties.) This year is no different. We start the month at what is always a winning strategy: combining fashion and lunch. The Equest Women's Auxiliary Luncheon & Fashion Show is Tuesday, October 6, at Brook Hollow Golf Club, chaired by Amy Hegi and Libby Hegi, with honorary chair Dian Moore. Peggy Sewell will receive the Community Service Award. Then it's time for one of our favorite events of the fall social season, Party in the Park, on Thursday, October 8, benefiting the jewel of the Dallas' Arts District, Klyde Warren Park. Leading up the team this year are honorary chair Laurie Sands Harrison and her children Caroline Harrison Loehr, Francis Harrison, and Bailey Harrison and their spouses Gavin Loehr and Manuel Brito. Vying for your attention on Thursday, October 8, is the SPCA of Texas Fur Ball at the Frontiers of Flight Museum. Put on your most festive cocktail frock for dinner, dancing, and the always boisterous Pony Up for Paws auction. On Sunday, October 11, head to the Aging Mind Foundation Polo Cup at Willow Bend Polo & Hunt Club for an afternoon of cocktails and the chance to channel your inner Pretty Woman with the divot stomp. Next, we'll catch up with our Kappa Kappa Gamma girlfriends at one or both of the Kappa Tablescapes events: the cocktail reception on Monday, October 12, or the luncheon the next day (both at Dallas Country Club). This year's co-chairs, Jojo Fleiss and D allas-based Meghan Guffey debuts her European-inspired children's clothing brand, Bea Colette, in Highland Park Village, next to Market … Brian Bolke introduces Armani in residence, with both women's and men's, October 20 through 31, in the first-floor space below the Conservatory on Two that was previously occupied by Gabriela Hearst (which comes down October 15). It's North Texas' largest annual shopping holiday benefiting the Dallas-based family violence agency The Family Place. On Saturday, October 17, indulge in some boot-scootin' fun dancing to the tunes of singer-songwriter Chris Stapleton, this year's headliner at the iconic Cattle Baron's Ball at Southfork Ranch. On Thursday, October 22, we'll secure our annual excuse for shopping for a cause — the Partners Card — at the preview event at Joey. This year's brunch includes a fashion show with participating retailers. For more about Partners Card, see below. The following weekend sees the return of amfAR Dallas — the Buzz reinterpretation of our beloved TWO x TWO fundraiser — on Saturday, October 24. Hosts Kathleen and Scott Kirby are holding the star-studded affair on the grounds of their Preston Hollow estate, where a philanthropic leadership award will be presented to AT&T chairman and CEO John Stankey, and Charlize Theron receives the Award of Inspiration. Lisa Rinna hosts. You'll find us on the dance floor after what we imagine will be a huge amount raised at the auction. On Sunday, October 25, take the family to The Great Create in the Nasher Garden. Each year, the green space is transformed into a wondrous, interactive, art-filled space where children participate in engaging project with live entertainment and kid- friendly fare supporting the Nasher Sculpture Center's education programs. For some Halloween fun, buzz by NorthPark Pumpkin Patch from October 1 through November 1. Staged in partnership with Community Partners of Dallas (CPD) in Center Park, the patch is designed by Harold Leidner Landscape Architects, NorthPark Center's renowned land- scape team, and local artist David Daniel. All change collected in the wishing well in the Pumpkin Patch and the Neiman Marcus Fountain will be donated to CPD. Billy Fong and the full amount goes directly to the cause. Use your Partners Card at one of our favorite boutiques, Stanley Korshak. Among the fall designer appearances are jeweler Sylva & Cie and Jeffrey Levinson, who brings his handbags and clutches. Both are in store Thursday through Saturday, October 22 through 24. Finally, one of our favorite chic couples, Gable and Ed Shaikh, who founded Hadleigh's in 2009, have told us they're on track to open their new boutique by the time you receive this issue.
