ROUND ABOUT ROUND TOP O ver the summer, HGTV aired an episode of the new series Extreme Buyers Club that starred Round Top- based Broken Road Farm. The series, which follows house hunters in search of unconventional properties, documents the real estate journey of the farm's owners, Sara and Greg Mires. They knew they'd found the perfect property to breed their miniature Highland cows and raise their family of five when realtor Caroline Wolff of Round Top Real Estate showed them a quirky house on 10 acres. Built in 2009 by Round Top Home Builders founder Barney Reynolds and his wife, Sue Reynolds, the home was constructed and designed almost entirely with locally salvaged materials. Its new owners have spent the last few months clearing the land and adapting it for their business. "We're creating an events place for people to slow down, intentionally socialize, and reconnect with nature," says Sara, a former catering operations manager. She and Greg launched a series of ticketed events in September and the first annual Hootenanny at Broken Road Farm is Saturday, October 10, with music from emerging Americana artist Hannah Marie Kelly along with the Hogslop String Band, and others, square-dancing lessons led by Hogslop front man Gabriel Kelley, and photo ops with the cows. A visit to Round Top need not interrupt one's fitness routine. The new Onyx Flow studio offers daily mat Pilates, yoga, and sculpt classes from its boutique group fitness studio in downtown Brenham. Class intensities run the spectrum from gentle and restorative to challenging and sweat inducing, with infrared heated sessions available. The studio marks a second location for founder and former Division 1 athlete Annie Goering, who also owns Onyx Athletic Club in Detroit. Instead, the Emmy -winning producer finds himself busier than ever: managing the expansion of his Round Top Royale Airbnb, penning romance novels, and launching a new fashion brand. Noe's Rodeo Clown Royale fashion outpost is set to open its doors during the fall show on Thursday, October 15. "Western fashion is being created, t weaked, and pushed and pulled in another direction in Round Top," says Noe, who is oft stopped on the street by admirers of his Round Top garb. "What we're doing down here is different and has worked its way into international Western fashion." Noe began developing the Rodeo Clown vibe by designing a series of outsized patches and gathering vintage clothing during his travels across the Western U.S. Watch for a reveal of the first book in Noe's Round Top romance- novel series, inspired by his former client Fabio and an easily recognizable cast of Round Top characters.
