NOTES FASHION By Steven Hempel 68 F rank Lloyd Wright believed form and function were one. Le Labo takes a similar approach with its limited-edition home diffuser by encasing its signature Santal 26 in a concrete vessel, topped with an Edison bulb. More architectural object than traditional diffuser, it brings an unexpected materiality to the world of fragrance. Cast, polished, and sealed by hand in the United States, each piece exhibits the natural variations that come with its organic nature. Air pockets and subtle shifts in tone give it natural variation and a surface that develops a patina over time. Inside, a nebulizer disperses Santal 26 fragrance oil as a fine mist, without heat or dilution. The Edison bulb dims and brightens with the intensity of the diffusion, linking light to scent and new journeys ahead. lelabofragrances.com. Concrete Sensibility N ew York in the 1980s had plenty of attitude and no shortage of characters. Four decades later, its downtown art scene and ballroom culture are still giving fashion something to talk about. M ichael Rider brought ballroom attitude to Celine, opening his Spring/ Summer 2027 show with the unmistakable voice of Dorian Corey from the 1990 documentary Paris Is Burning. Under a giant thatched roof in a leafy Paris courtyard, the collection moved freely through Parisian polish, American sportswear, and bohemian eccentricity. Then came that look: a head- to-toe tomato-red moment that was bold, juicy, and impossible to ignore. A little eccentric, entirely fabulous, and proof that Rider knows the power of a good fashion entrance. His Celine continues to feel spontaneous and personal, mixing the house's codes with an instinctive approach to dressing. As Corey famously declared, "If you shoot an arrow and it goes real high, hooray for you." celine.com. K eith Haring's dancing figures, radiant hearts, and unruly characters have come to play in the eighth edition of Artycapucines for Louis Vuitton. The house's signature bag becomes a canvas for the New York artist's graphic universe across 13 limited- edition designs, where the spontaneity of street art meets the savoir faire of French luxury. The collection is as much about material as imagery. A silver Running Heart minaudière is set with more than 12,000 crystals; a Maze bag is embroidered with thousands of beads. Elsewhere, Haring's Dancing Figures play out against white leather, while another design reimagines a Louis Vuitton suitcase the artist customized in 1984. Miniature characters swing from decorative chains, carrying his visual language down to the last detail. Developed with the Keith Haring Foundation, the collection arrives on the heels of Nicolas Ghesquière's Cruise 2027 show at New York's Frick Collection. It's an unexpected but fitting encounter between Haring's downtown New York sensibility and the house's Parisian craftsmanship, with the artist's bold lines lending the Capucines a new kind of expression. louisvuitton.com.
