THE ZEN OF SPIN Terlingo Cycle, 3105 Reagan St., 214.520.7433; terlingocycle.com T WE'RE FALLING he city's sexiest socialites wouldn't look quite as dazzling in their bandage dresses without John Terlingo. After more than a decade in L.A., the model turned trainer brought his talents back to Dallas in 2011, and fitness fanatics began queuing as early as 4 am for his spiritually inclined spin classes around town. Terlingo opens his own studio Labor Day weekend, partnering with former Dallas Cowboy Mat McBriar, offering workouts he describes as "yoga on a bike." With a minimalist interior inspired by Logan's Run, Terlingo Cycle (or TGO) houses 31 state-of-the-art 2013 A.C. Performance Plus Schwinns. The studio boutique sells branded gym wear, H20 TGO water, signature citrus candles by Niven Morgan and TGO/Farrah Fawcett tees benefiting the late actress' cancer-fighting foundation. Although Terlingo will share teaching duties with seven hand-selected instructors, all TGO trainers share his music-is-the-message approach, to clear your mind while you raise your heart rate. Kendall Morgan FRESH SPOTS TO SHOP GAZE AND GRAZE , for buttered popcorn crème brûlée SPINNING WITH JOHN TERLINGO BESPOKE FIREARMS, CAP'N CRUNCH SPRINKLES ICE CREAM AND WAGYU BEEF MEATBALLS. I SCREAM, HAPPY FALL! YOU SCREAM Sprinkles Ice Cream, 8413 Preston Center Plaza, 214.363.4050; sprinkles.com SURE AS SHOOTING Five years ago, a sugar rush reached citywide proportions thanks to the arrival of Sprinkles Cupcakes. Now, the enemy of diets everywhere has struck again with the opening of Sprinkles Ice Cream, a modern take on the old-fashioned scoop shop. Nestled alongside the bakery and its cupcake-dispensing ATM, the Dallas location was a no-brainer for L.A. owner Candace Nelson. "We've shipped more house-made pints to Texas than any other state," she says. Foodies can indulge in flavors such as salty caramel, Cap'n Crunch or butter pecan with caramelized pecan dragées, along with originals vanilla bean and strawberry. Options such as red velvet waffle cones, crumbled cupcake toppings or the Sprinkles sandwich (a heaping scoop of your favorite ice cream flavor pressed between two fluffy cupcake tops) mean Ice cream with red your healthy intentions can begin, well, velvet crumbles another day. So figures Village Kitchen, the new Twomey Concepts eatery situated in the downstairs portion of the former Marquee Grill in Highland Park Village. Serving up lunch and dinner seven days a week with a menu that caters to size 2s and families alike, we're betting the buttered popcorn crème brûlée and Fruity Pebbles milkshake become this season's guilty caloric pleasure. Hardwood floors, wooden tables covered in butcher's block paper and works from local artists serve as a homey backdrop for Chef Andre Natera's roasted chicken with quinoa pilaf, barbecue ribs, and fried burrata and tomato salad. Lauren Scheinin GOING BACK TO CALI H Mesero Miguel; 2822 N. Henderson; 214.821.6426; meseromiguel.com KEVIN MARPLE he following analogous relationship may not be found on the SAT, but it's pivotal to a connoisseur's higher education: Holland & Holland is to firearms as Patek Philippe is to timepieces. The former, however, earns extra credit for its Royal patronage — the Royal Arms of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, whose Warrant of Appointment as Rifle Maker was granted in 1963, and those of HRH The Prince of Wales, whose Warrant of Appointment as Bespoke Gunmaker and supplier of Country Clothing has been carried since 1995. Made entirely by hand, each sporting arm takes up to 900 hours of painstaking craftsmanship in a West London factory; last year only 61 guns were distributed to the world. Up until three months ago, those wishing to acquire a piece of this action had to jet to London, New York or Moscow. Collectors now need travel no further than the second floor of deBoulle, where a fully outfitted Gun Room overseen by manager Duncan Kimmerling awaits. (Don't let his modest demeanor fool you. We were warned by more than one person never to challenge him to a contest in marksmanship.) The two-years-in-the-making space reflects the sumptuously restrained good taste embedded in the company's DNA, but the real draw lies in the contents of its gleaming gun case —side-by-side shotguns, double rifles and more, whose beauty and detail could rival a Rembrandt. Those not ready to pull the trigger can lose themselves in Holland & Holland's collection of covetable silk scarves, hunting apparel, shooting accessories and even limitededition porcelain bangles. Get fitted for your bespoke gun on the premises, but be prepared to wait over a year for its arrival … "immediate gratification" and "unrivaled legacy" don't belong in the same sentence. Amy Adams it-making restaurateur Mico Rodriguez (Mi Cocina, Taco Diner, Mr. Mesero) serves up a side of California at his newest boîte, Mesero Miguel, opening September 16. The two-story, 5,000-square-foot Henderson haunt (designed by Zero 3) gives a nod to Julius Shulman's iconic photography of West Coast mid-century modern architecture. Rodriguez and chef Jon Stevens have created an American-grill-meets-Mexican menu boasting Albondigas De Mi Madre (Wagyu beef meatballs with white queso and salsa roja) and Pescado Ala Planca, aka redfish with salsa Mexicana and coconut rice. Head upstairs to The Pedro, a bar paying tribute to director Pedro Almodóvar, and sip cocktails including El Santo and La Dona, a combination of Herradura Silver tequila with house-made sangría or citrus and Splenda. "I love the '60s Palm Springs vibe," Rodriguez says. "I can almost imagine Sinatra saying, 'Hey Joe, have I got a story for you." Lauren Scheinin
