Design Nights at Nantucket Showcase BY SETH VAUGHAN. PHOTOGRAPHY DANIEL ORTIZ T Catherine D. Anspon Randy Twaddle he architecturally astute gathered for two separate occasions at The Nantucket Showcase. Design denizens came out in droves to celebrate the show house's opening, which Jonathon benefitted Legacy Community Health Glus Services. The 5,000-square-foot Tanglewood-area house — the first collaboration between Monsour Taghdisi of Prestige Builders and interior decorator Lucinda Loya — was designed by Regan Miller, AIA, and Miller Dashtrand Architects. An enviable équipe of artisans and craftsmen contributed, including textile designer Rusty Arena, landscape architects Richard Dawson and Lawrence Estes, artist Randy Twaddle, and antiquarian Kay O'Toole. More than Donae a million dollars' worth of fine art was Chramosta culled from Barbara Davis, McClain and Rob Hiram Butler galleries. The openingChramosta night fête kicked off the two weekends of public tours, admission from which supported the Art Institute of Houston. Altruistic aesthetes: Legacy CEO Katy Katie Caldwell, Bob Devlin, Alan Almai, O'NealGalliano Cenk Ozdogan, Erin and James Stewart, Claire Cormier Thielke, Tonya Riner, Terry Wayne Jones, Jonathon Glus, Rudy Martinez, John Daugherty, Jay Jones, Fady Armanious, Donae and Rob Chramosta, Teri and Phillip Pugh, Monsour and Sydney Adger. In the following Taghdisi weeks, the show house played host to Lucinda Loya the panel discussion Dealer Confidential. Composed of the gallerists who loaned works for the project — Barbara Davis, Hiram Butler, and Robert McClain — the discussion was moderated by PaperCity's Catherine D. Anspon. Budding and established collectors assembled to hear insider dish on the art world from the Houston gallery vanguard. H ouston Design Center on Old Katy Road beckoned the shelter set for a discourse on gracious living and a master class on shepherding business via social media conduits. It all began with a cocktail party, naturally. Hosts Kelli and Mike Bridges welcomed the design-savvy to their River Oaks residence, newly decorated care of Ken Kehoe, for an intimate gathering toasting Cindy Smith and Jane Schwab — Charlottebased designers, the retailers behind Circa Interiors & Antiques and the authors of Rizzoli's newly minted The Welcoming House: The Art of Living Graciously. Cocktail chatter was punctuated by bites and boissons as guests bought books and had them inscribed. Bookies: Jana Giammalva, Jim Reeder, Eric Nevil, Janet Gust, Mary and John Pike, Janus Lazaris, Lynne Jones, fabric fella Rusty Arena, Sarah Eilers, and Christofle's Vicki Rusca. Robert Bunch and Barbara Shoemaker's showroom, Bunch & Shoemaker, played host to the next day's festivities, which kicked off Houston Design Center's Market. Smith and Schwab delivered a keynote address with Southern design advice; a light lunch was Cindy Smith served followed by an afternoon of talks and presentations. To market, to market: HDC owners Sheri and Grant Roane, Kathryn Wilson, Missy Stewart, Lauren Phillips, Donna Jarigan, Denzil Hollingsworth, PR personage Alton LaDay, and Sheryl Stringer. For the final installment, Kate Stukenberg — PaperCity's executive editor, fashion/digital — hosted PaperCity DesignLab, conducting a tech tutorial with specific focus on the design world, at Connie LeFevre's showroom, Design House.
