Christen Wilson Dorian Grinspan Claire Distenfeld Back in the U.S.S.R. Kira Plastinina Where the Moscow girls really knocked us out BY LAUREN SCHEININ. PHOTOGRAPHY JASON ACTON. T David Yi Logan Horne Amber Venz Merritt Beck he Beatles may have said it best in 1968, but it was still a Russian revolution at the opening of Lublu, designer Kira Plastinina's flagship U.S. store in Preston Center. Russian, New York, Flemish, Belgian and Texan inflections were heard above the pop tunes spun by DJ Hannah Bronfman (style icon and daughter of Edgar Bronfman Jr.), who Fawnia Soo Hoo hopped a private jet from NY to man the music decks for her pal. "I'm seeing how saucy people get before I switch to some hip-hop," she said. Twenty-one-year-old fashion sensation Plastinina may have an empire-ette in Russia, but this Muscovite also hits the books at SMU — where she's a senior — just like the rest of us (once did). Wearing a white floor-grazing Grecian number of her own design, she defined her collection (its name means "I love" in her native tongue) as "feminine, daring and savvy," apropos for the jet-setting lives of her fellow Russkies. Speaking of … Nasiba Adilova — fashion journalist, blogger for Russia's 24-hour fashion news site buro247.ru and now Dallas resident — was on hand to lend support and rally the fashion troops. It was a United Nations gathering (if the UN was as fashionable), with Dorian Grinspan, the 21-year-old editor of international fashion mag Out of Order, in from NY; Icelander Aslaug Magnusdottir, co-founder of Moda Operandi; Belgian Natalie Joos, casting agent and fashion consult, in from NY; Annelise Peterson, of Neta-Porter; Claire Distenfeld, proprietor of Fivestory, the NY store often referred to as the Colette of the Upper Lucy Wrubel East Side; both-coast stylist Logan Horne (he dresses Karolina Kurkova, Jessica Stamm and Leighton Meester); Joyann King, Harper's Bazaar digital director; and New York Observer's David Yi. Our own home-grown oligarchs showed up in droves: Anna-Sophia Van Zweden, aka the gorgeous daughter of DSO music director Jaap Van Zweden; blogger and stylist Nini Nguyen; rewardstyle.com founder Amber Venz; and Laura Noble with husband Dogan Perese, founder of gallerist.com. Comrades in arms: Suzanne Droese, Lucy Wrubel (Wrubel, ruble — how cute is that!), Sue Gragg, Kari Kloewer, Tanya Foster, Maxine Trowbridge, Brooke Hortenstine, Todd Fiscus, Genniva Bruce, Marjon Zabihi, Jessica Olsson Nowitzki, Kristie Ramirez, Deborah Humphrey, Missy Rogers, Piper Wyatt and Sheryl Maas.
