Hooray for Bollywood Rusty Duvall Gail Turner Lee Ann White Ross Perot Jr. Sarah Perot (Not to Mention Caviar, Cavalli and Krispy Kremes) BY KATE SHELDON. PHOTOGRAPHY DANIEL GREDSKE Film director Danny Boyle has nothing on Sweetheart Ball chairman Kelli Ford when it comes to staging memorable moments. Instead of opting for the event's traditional venue — Brookhollow Country Club — she transformed her Turtle Creek dwelling into a Texas-style Taj Majal, albeit one with a rose-colored facade. Guests arrived to find the white limestone home entirely bathed in a pink spotlight, and the special effects didn't end there. Entering the grand hall, almost 300 fête-setters walked on rose petals past an abundance of glorious arrangements composed of orange and lavender roses, orchids, kumquats and lemon leaf. An enormous elephant topiary ensured no one would forget the outside bar, and cocktail hour involved plenty of champagne and caviar, along with a riveting performance by the Indian dance troop Blue Flame. (Colorful gowns were the dress code of choice for the ladies, but only the hostess exchanged her Valentino gown for a Cavalli number mid-party.) Following a menu featuring braised short ribs and a chocolate torte with crème fraîche, celebrators made their moves to the tunes of the Haute Chile's until the wee hours. Midnight bites such as lobster corndogs, Kobe sliders and Krispy Kreme donuts kept everyone on their feet. This year's ball raised more than $1.8 million for cardiology research at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, and consistent with the event's 31-year history, the funds were generously matched by an anonymous donor. Those who didn't skip a beat: Amy and Corey Prestidge, Nancy and Jeremy Halbreich, Joan and Irvin Levy, Sharon and Terry Woods, Sammye and Mike Myers, Elizabeth Robertson, Jack Knox, Alinda and Jim Wikert, Debbie and Harold Annette John Tolleson, Deborah Simmons Simmons and Jack Gunter, and Jennifer and Coley Clark.
